During the beginning of twentieth century, First World War broke out and the Allied forces wanted to pass the Bosphrus Strait with their naval forces in order to dispatch their supplies to Russia and bring the Ottoman Empire down but their attempt failed.

Bosphrus Bridge
It was built in the year of 1973. When you begin to a Bosphrus tour, you will definetly realize its excellent view. In 2016, a military coup broke out. The tanks and soldiers who were supporter of the coup temporarily occupied the bridge and they didnt let anyone pass across.
Afterwards, the soldiers fired the civilians under the command of their officers and killed more than 30 people. As the coup attempt backfired, the government renamed the bridge as, “15 Temmuz Sehitler Koprusu”(15th July Martyries Bridge).
